Take Me To Your Leader
Recent attendees at the VITTA conference in Melbourne would have seen this short film I created as a part of my Keynote with Xtranormal and a bit of tweaking with iMovie. The basic concept is;
Imagine you had to explain what education is all about to someone from another planet?
How would you explain how we impart knowledge from one generation to the next so as to improve our society?
I think it would go something like this…
I hope this challenges you to reflect upon how you are promoting curiosity in your school. I would love to hear how you have used this video to challenge, or even inspire, other educators. Feel free to share, I only ask that you leave a comment.

Thanks for this Adam!
It’s interesting how the world changes so rapidly around us, yet kids continue to learn in similar settings as their parents. What’s your thoughts on Yr 11-12 compared to what we are trying to achieve in P-10?

Hi Adam,
Didn’t really have the chance to congratulate you on the great presentation - (it was a pretty busy couple of days for me!) But it did want to say that your presentation was awesome - inspirational, well paced and informative! That was a keynote!!
Cheers,

Thanks for your comment KM.
There is no doubt a real challenge when it comes to revisiting the way we approach education, especially with secondary school. When such emphasis is placed on exam results, it is understandable why teachers feel like they need to employ traditional teaching approaches and ‘teach to the test.’
We need brave leaders at all levels - schools, department and governments to genuinely revisit what we value in society and how we are ‘assessing’ student performance in a way that gives all students the opportunity to show us what they can really do.
Wouldn’t it be great to use the new Australian Curriculum as a vehicle for real change.

Thanks for your comment and positive feedback. I am so glad to hear that a talented educator such as yourself got something out of it.
It was an honour to present at VITTA. I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into such a conference. You and the team should be congratulated on another fantastic conference.
